A Lunch Date...

Before Piper was born, I could not get my nose out of Gail MacDonald's book entitled "High Call, High Privilege." The reason I fell head over heals for this book is because it was a compilation of stories, real life stories of a man and woman that have been in ministry for 50 something years. As soon as I got home and unpacked from the hospital, I got the book out again. I could not wait to finish! However, it was going to be a struggle to read those final chapters. My new life was full of sleeping, nursing, eating, drinking water, and then repeat....over and over again! Whenever I was awake, my hands were not free! Due to the obvious dilemma, I asked my husband to read it out loud to me while I was awake and nursing Piper. Everything else in his life was changing, so he figured, "what better time to start reading women's books to my wife than right now!" If you know my husband, you know the humor behind this noble endeavor. If you don't....His outward appearance screams "total man": bearded, burly, and rough around the edges. Go ahead,....picture him reading me a pink book while I am nursing. It was awesome to see him engaging me in such a crazy season and in such a random (but perfect) way.

After reading the book, I thought to myself, "I want to meet this incredible woman!" I drafted an email several times, and I finally emailed Gail. To my surprise I got an email back in 30 minutes. She and Gordon were going to be in Denver in the coming months and she hoped to get it on the calendar! I was honored and pleasantly surprised! I will let you know how our times goes....hopefully, it will be a time to swap stories of God's goodness and to gain wisdom from a seasoned woman on marriage, motherhood, friendship, and being in relationship with Jesus.

I will have a review of her book up soon! :)
